Background of Belabo Upazila

Belabo upazila shared its territory with the neighboring upazilas of Manohardi and Raipura before 1982. As a result of administrative decentralization of the then government, a complete upazila of 8 unions was formed from Manohardi upazila with Patuli, Binnabaid, Bajnab, Belab and Amla unions and from Raipura upazila with Narayanpur and Sallabad unions. It was named as "Belabo" Upazila.

Geographical boundaries: Katiadi in Kishoreganj district in the north, Kuliyarchar and Bhairab in the east, Raipura in Narsingdi district in the south, Manohardi and Shibpur upazilas in the west.
